In this unique project, I use Adobe Creative Suite to digitally blend archival photographs depicting post-Hurricane Katrina New Orleans with images of the mythical Loch Ness monster, ​“Nessie."

 

The resulting photorealistic art offers a radical reinvention of a historical disaster. By having an imaginary guardian “Nessie" intervene at key points of the disaster - the Superdome, the broken levees, and the shotgun houses - I hoped to reinvent the memories of Black death and suffering into an alternative reality of solace and resilience.
