Description
“Secretion" is a series of artwork created using the lumen technique: exposing photographic silver gelatin paper to sunlight, burning objects onto paper and digital color manipulation.
This body of work seeks to reclaim the female body by the mapping of dot graphs: cellular particles are encircled by images of secreting bodily fluid, rounded chunks of flesh, and withering plant pieces. The cellular particles are individual datapoints of the female body that is surveilled, exploited, and boiled down to simple points of data, strewn across the screen in chunks. This work deposits these plotted data among the metaphorical images of life - flesh, blood, destruction and resurrection - restoring materiality to computed female bodies.
