Description 

​

My first use of generative AI to create timeless album art for jazz guitarist Yooyoun Cho's debut album, "A Tadd of Fat Birds." This album is composed of quartet and solo jazz sounds covering jazz standards like "Dexterity" by Tadd Dameron and "Billie's Bounce" by Charlie Parker.

Design Process

 

I used OpenAI's text-to-image model DALL·E to generate an image of a stained glass window of four birds perched around a guitar to achieve an old, canonical look following the album title. The mirrored image of the window reflected on the other side of the cover signifies “looking in” through the lens of traditions and inheritances of jazz, meeting client's vision of the album being a tribute to past musicians. The inside and the back keep a monotone look, with the occasional placement of a little bird as a humorous nod to Charlie “Bird” Parker.
