Description
"A Protest, Ongoing" is a thesis project that chronicles the history of Columbia University's Center for the Study of Ethnicity and Race (CSER) in relation to student activism, focusing on the Student Protests of 1996. Through timelines, exhibits, archival materials and interviews, it aims to create a collective memory, highlighting the unique origins of CSER as a student-led center and its ongoing commitment to disruptive and non-traditional forms of research and discourse. The form of this project is digital, searchable website and a social media account that incorporates multimedia elements, making the collection accessible to the current and prospective student body of Columbia University and “time-specific” - engaging the very modes of communication we use right now.
